Hello Everyone!
It has been a while since the last update on the club. We have been talking about where to go after the legislative council denied our application. Apparently, we were denied by 2 votes! Anyways, we have some good news about the future of the club.
First Meeting!
First of all, we can finally announce when the first meeting will be!
Absolute beginners are absolutely welcome, and we will do our best to help newcomers get their license. We will be covering license preparation at meetings.
The first meeting will be held after school on Tuesday, January 20th in Mr. Baena’s room in G-4. Enter through the side door of the engineering building. The meeting should finish before 4pm.
The meeting will begin with an overview of the amateur radio hobby and how AVARC will make amateur radio fun for everybody. Following our introduction, we will conduct a short presentation on Meshtastic, an open-source project that mesh network over radio.
Other BIG News!
In other news, we have secured a club radio! Club Officer Lucas, KO6LBA, claimed a free radio. The Radio, a Kenwood TS-440S from the 1980’s, supports all HF frequences from 10m to 160m. It will soon be moved to Amador for club members to enjoy. When using club equipment, members will need to have their official FFC license present and record their callsign on a sheet so we can keep track of usage. More on that later.
